Lois E. Stevens was born on 05/20/1929 to Ralph R. and Mary C. Miller. She passed away on 08/24/2016 at the age of 87. She was born in Chase County, Nebraska. She graduated from Honey Creek High School in Salem, Nebraska. She continued her education at York College and graduated with a teaching degree. She married Charles R (Bob) Stevens in October 1952. They began their married life on their farm in Nims City, Nebraska, where their 2 children, Lori & Bob, were born. They left farming in 1958 and moved to Texas. A job next moved them to the Quad Cities in Illinois, where they were active in their church, enjoying many camping adventures with their church family. Their next move was to Portland, Oregon in 1968. Upon an early retirement they moved back to Nebraska and built a home on the Nims City property. Family, grandchildren, and health concerns brought them to Salem, Oregon in 1990.

Lois was active in the Rebekah's (Odd Fellows) and PEO in both Nebraska and Oregon. She was currently a member of PEO chapter ET in Salem, Oregon.

Following in her father's footsteps, Lois loved reading, memorizing, and reciting poetry and stories. The Masters Class at Keizer Church of Christ, where she was dubbed "poet laureate", were often gifted with her great repertoire. She lived the Christian value of "love is patient, love is kind".

She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 sisters, Ruth Lee and Mary Anglin, and brother, Jim Miller. Her surviving family includes her brother, David Miller (Jan), daughter Lori Deibert (Jim), son Bob Stevens (Sharon), four grandchildren: David Deibert (Christina), Kathryn Lederer (Eric), Joshua Stevens (Rosealynn), and Jill Stevens; five great-grandchildren: Arianna, Eli, Laurel, Ava, and Hudson; plus many nieces and nephews. We loved her and we'll miss her very much. We take comfort that she is in Heaven with God, probably reading to him. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 2:00 at the Keizer Church of Christ.

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered. It keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." I Corinthians 13, 4-7.
