"MRS ALICE C BANCROFT TO BE BURIED FRIDAY - Well Known Eastern Crawford Woman Spent Entire Married Life in Same Dwelling - Centreville, July 23 - Mrs Alice C Bancroft, widow of John C Bancroft, died at 4:30 o'clock Wednesday at the home to which she came as a bride from Great Barrington, Mass, over forty years ago and where she spent practically her entire married life. She was a member of the Riceville M E church for many years and was regarded throughout the community as a woman of high Christian character, true wife, kind and loving mother and obliging friend and neighbor. Throughout her long illness she bore her suffering without murmur and her every thought seemed to be for the welfare and comfort of those about her. Mrs Bancroft is survived by three children, Edward John Bancroft of Athens township, Mrs R E (sic) [R D] Welch of Ford City and Mrs W S Stright of Meadville, and two sisters, Mrs John Hinkson and Mrs E J Hall, both of Union City. Services in her memory will be conducted from the family home, Friday, July 25, at 2 pm."
