Sarah was married to Nicholas Blackwell on 22 Oct 1822 in Montgomery County, AL, both of their families having to moved to Alabama pre-Statehood. In 1823, oldest daughter Elizabeth was born in Montgomery County, AL. In 1826 the Family moved to Fayette, TN and appear on the 1830 Fayette, TN Census. In 1838-39, the family moved to Union Springs AL (This is close to where William Baldwin, Sarah's grandfather, is buried, in Fitzpatrick, AL). The family appears on the 1840 Macon, AL Census. And shortly after this Nicholas and Sarah moved to Pontotoc County, MS. In 1849, he reportedly died in a hunting accident after slipping on a log. His gun discharged when he slipped and he lingered for several days before passing away. Sarah and Nicholas had seven children.

Sarah married Joseph Pruitt on 15 July, 1852 in Pontotoc County, MS. Joseph lived in then Pontotoc County, MS., now Union County. Joseph was a farmer that owned a large plantation named Pruitt Hill. He had 11 children with his first wife Martha Hensley.

Joseph and Sarah had no children. Joseph died in 1864. He is interred next to Martha on their old plantation near what was known as Mitchells switch, near New Albany, MS

Sarah died in Pontotoc County the following year.

She was the daughter of James Baldwin 1780-1847 and Elizabeth White 1789-1864.
