Cheryl was born January 3, 1948 in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of William Dyle and Etta (Woodrum) Kirby Sr. She graduated from Eisenhower High School and retired from the Eastern Star Home where she served as a registered nurse. Cheryl married Darrell Burns May 24, 1990. He preceded her in death March 8, 2000.
Cheryl leaves behind her children Bryan (Lindsey) Kirby of Decatur, Kimberly (Adam) Skundberg of Mt. Zion, Leslie (George) Strohl of Mt. Zion, and Angela (Patrick) Hilligoss of Mt. Zion, sister Penny (Ed) Govro, grandchildren Ashley Kirby, Derek Kirby, Brooke Staley, Zachary Talazac, Morgan Strohl, Joshua Skundberg, Sayler Talazac, Camryn Skundberg, Hannah Strohl, Hartlee Hilligoss, Ethan Strohl, great-grandchildren Cameron Washington Jr. and Ashton Washington, her love of fourteen years Allan Ackles, and many loving nieces, cousins, and special friends.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother William Dyle Kirby Jr.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff with DMH Hospice especially nurse Becky.
Services to celebrate Cheryl’s life will be 11:00 AM Friday, January 27, 2017 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM prior to the services. Burial to follow in South Macon Township Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
