David E. Beardsley, of En- cinitas, Calif., died Wednesday, Feb. 19 peacefully in his home. He was born Oct. 14, 1931, in Elkhart, Ind., son of the late Ed- ward and Olive Beardsley.
He spent his childhood in Elkhart with frequent visits to Ennis, Mont., where in 1949 his family built a cabin up Jack- ass Creek. In 1954 he married Nancy Stahr Leadbeater of Eh- khart, Ind. They soon moved to Hawaii where he was stationed in the Navy, returning to earn his animal husbandry degree from Montana State University in 1956.

He was a devoted and cher- ished longtime member of the Seaside Center for Spiritual Liv- ing in Encinitas, and gave gener- ously of his time as a daily vol- unteer. His brother Lem and son Andrew predeceased him.
There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be cel- ebrated on Sunday, March 2, at 4 p.m. at the Seaside Center for Spiritual living, 1613 Lake Drive, Encinitas, CA 92024 with the Rev. Tami Mars officiating. A local service in Ennis is planned for a date yet to be determined. Burial is private. In lieu of flow- ers, memorial donations may be made to the Seaside Center for Spiritual Living, Encinitas, Ca- lif., your local VA hospital or Trinity Episcopal Church in Ennis.
