From the "Connecticut Courant," (Hartford, Connecticut), 14 May 1864:
A sad affair occurred at Worcester, Mass., last Friday night,
Frank Knowlton, aged 22, George D. Knowlton, and Henry W. Whittemore, aged about 21, were out on Quinsigsmond Lake, fishing, when their boat sprang a leak and filled with water when in the middle of the lake, where the water is nearly one hundred feet deep.
The result was the drowning of all three.
The "Spy" says all of them were young men of good character, and known to be of correct habits.
Note. An article from the "Worcester Palladium," (Worcester, Massachusetts), 11 May 1864, p. 3, notes that his body was never recovered.
