SIMPSON, SAM PRICE, 75, died Monday, January 15, 2007 in Knoxville, TN. He was born February 19, 1931 in Memphis, TN, the son of the late Jerry Weldon Simpson and Virginia (Price) Simpson. Sam was a graduate of the Nicholasville High School and Centre College and received his master's degree from the University of Kentucky. Sam was an educator in the Carroll County School System for over 38 years. During his career he directed many musicals and plays for over 30 years. For his services to Carroll County schools, the Sam Simpson Auditorium was dedicated in 2006 in recognition of his contributions to the students of Carroll County. He was active in the Carrollton Players and the Carroll County Fair Board along with many other community events. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jeanne Adams Simpson; a daughter, Virginia Adams Simpson of Carrollton; and one son, Sam Price Simpson II, of Knoxville, TN Funeral services are 1 p.m. Thursday at the Carrollton Christian Church with interment at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home and from noon-1 p.m. Thursday at church.
