Matthew Mark Wallace , 86:
Mr. Wallace also known as “M.M.” passed away Saturday, November 8, 2008 at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Wallace was the son of the late Samuel Wallace and Ella Hugh Wallace.
Mr. Wallace served with the United States Air Force during WWII. After the war, he was employed with AT&T Bellsouth where he was a very a very active organizer for the Communications Workers of America, retiring with 40 years service
Before moving to White County in 1986, Mr. Wallace lived in Lake City, Georgia where he participated in local politics serving as Councilman and then Mayor. He also served on the Atlanta Regional Commission. He was a lifelong Democrat and was proud that a Democrat was in the White House. Mr. Wallace spent many years working for the Democratic Party and participated in the campaigns of both Jimmy Carter and Walter Mondale. He loved baseball and helped create the Forrest Park Little League Association. He was a member of the Forest Park First Baptist Church and later Emanuel Presbyterian Church.
