Charlie Wilford Adkins, 91, of Christiansburg, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017.

Charlie was retired from Burlington Industries after over 50 years of service. He was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, and enjoyed gardening and chickens.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Fuqua Adkins; parents, Dewey and Lydia Adkins; brothers, Garnett Adkins, Arnold Adkins, Paul Adkins, Lacy Adkins, Harless Adkins; sisters, Thelma Adkins, Rachel Adkins; and son, Larry Adkins. Charlie is survived by his children, Charlie Gayle Adkins and wife Patsy, Dusty Hal Adkins, and Sandy Reed and husband Tim; grandchildren, Teresa Davis, Jerry Adkins, Larry Adkins Jr., Brian Adkins, Corey Cox; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Melvin Adkins (Dorothy); and numerous other family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 23, 2017, from 10-11 a.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m. in the Chapel, and interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.

The family would like to thank Tiffany, Tiptoes, Tim, and Jennifer, as well as all the other caregivers over the years who took care of Charlie.
