FANNIN Mr. John R. "Dickie" Fannin, 68, of Stony Creek, died Thursday, October 12, 2000 at his home. He was the son of the late George R. and Helen H. Fannin and was also preceded in death by his brother, George R. Fannin Jr. Mr. Fannin was a lifelong Sussex County resident and retired farmer, and was also retired from Owen Ford. He is survived by his wife, Jean R. Fannin; two sons, John R. "Ricky" Fannin, James C. "Jimmy" Fannin; one daughter, Carolyn Fannin Garter; five grandchildren, Josh B. Fannin, Peyton Rose Fannin, John Anthony Garter Jr., Matthew James Garter and Brittany Jean Garter. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Owen Funeral Home in Jarratt. The funeral service will be held graveside 12 noon Saturday, October 14, 2000 in Southlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Crater Community Hospice, 840 West Roslyn Rd., Suite E, Colonial Heights, Va. 23834.
