Obituary for Elizabeth Olive Culbertson
Elizabeth Olive Culbertson, age 73, of Albia, passed away on January 20, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

Elizabeth was born on November 10, 1943, to Bernie “Curly” and Laura Agatha (Husted) See in Albia. She graduated from Albia High School, Class of 1962.

Elizabeth was a very loving and giving person who enjoyed taking care of children and helping others. She was a foster parent for many years and babysat for others. She also worked as a waitress and in retail stores. Elizabeth was very talented and crafty. She enjoyed embroidering, making baby quilts, crocheting, and painting. She enjoyed reading and loved her dog, Muffin, and her bird, Tweety. Her real joy in life was spending time with family, friends, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth is survived by her two daughters, Laura (Phil) Clouse of Albia and Melanie (Scott) Smith of Newton; ten grandchildren, Craig (Amberlynn) Sherman of Newton, Drew Sherman (Riley Williams) of Newton, Alyssa Sherman of Albia, Tyler Clouse (Erin Atchison) of Albia, Louie Clouse (Cara Crall) of Albia, Shilo Duncan (Cali Shepard) of Newton, Shaylee Duncan (Adrian Ramirez) of Newton, Skyler Duncan (Haley Ann Neal) of Newton, Courtney (Trent) McPhillips of Winterset, and Raven Smith of Oskaloosa; and ten great grandchildren, Chayse, Carter, Jenna, Morgan, Shadow, Zoey, Melina, Clark, Olivia, and Leland. Elizabeth is also survived by two sisters, Janice (Richard) Jourdan of Albia and Tina Shaffer of Knoxville; two brothers, Jim (Denna) See of Chariton and Brad See of Knoxville; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Curly and Agatha; 2 sisters, Kathy Maupin and Phyllis Rosenboom; two brothers, Roger and Roy See; a great granddaughter, Bekah Sherman; and an aunt, Margaret Rogers.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Elder Lois and Gene Behrens officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2017, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Elizabeth's family present from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorials have been established to the American Breast Cancer Society and the Juvenile Heart Disease Foundation.
