Note about James Y-DNA:

The James' trace their roots to England in the Middle-Ages. a J2 Y-DNA Haplgroup is rare in England. Haplogroup J accounts for about 2% of the population of England. J2 is about 20% of that (or roughly .4%).

The earliest Direct KNOWN ancestor for these James' is William Laban James Sr B1734 in North Carolina. However, extensive DNA testing indicates a connection the James who immigrated from Hingham, Norfolk, England in 1634 on the Ship 'Diligent' and established the town of Hingham, Mass. Further research connects both our James' and the Hingham James to a group of James' in the middle-ages who lived in Rockland, St. Peter, Norfolk, England.
