Effie Ruth Ward, 92, went home to be with The Lord on January 19, 2017.

Effie was born in Ringgold, GA., and was a long time resident of East Ridge, TN. Effie was a member of the East Ridge Church of God and a former member of the Lake Hills Church of God. While Effie taught Sunday school for 33+ years, she was best known in the community as the “French Fry Lady” at the Burger House in East Ridge.

Effie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Othie Ward and her parents Russell and Dessie Broom as well as several brothers and sisters.

Effie is survived by her children, Margie Yarbrough Elliott, Kenneth L. Ward, his wife Marsha Ward and Patricia Ward Knox and husband C.L. Knox; her grandchildren, Dava Yarbrough Griffith, Christy Yarbrough Eischeid, Kimberly Ward Olinger, Angela Knox Malcomb and Russell Ward. Effie is also survived by her eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Services will be held Monday at 11 AM in the chapel with Jack James officiating. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1-6 PM at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road.
