Jerry Dean Denbow was born June 13, 1959 to Willis Harvey and Yvonne Ruth (Whitcomb) Denbow in Eldora, Iowa. Jerry graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1977.

Jerry married Joseph Schmidt on September 19, 2009.

He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Ames and enjoyed making candles, hunting mushrooms, and traveling. Jerry was a homemaker and family was very important in his life.

Jerry passed away at 57 years of age on January 17, 2017 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Jerry is survived by his husband, Joe Schmidt of Ames; his daughter, Tisha (Matt) Heintz of Gladbrook; three grandchildren, Lydia Heintz, Violet Heintz and Nicklas Heintz; his sister, Pam (Karl) Coughenour of Maxwell; three nephews, Zackery Murfin, Lucas Ellis, and Kyle Coughenour; one niece, Shannon Ellis; and one great-niece, Nyla Ellis.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be addressed to the family.
