See bio on husband's, James Brown, Memorial. Jane's maiden name is believed to be Butler based on info given on her daughter's, Lucinda Brown Moore, families' Native American applications. There was a letter written by one of Charlotta Brown Rice's descendants stating Jane's mother's name was Butler and HER mother's name was Sheffield, but another descendant believed it should have stated her father was a Butler and her mother a Sheffield.
