William G. Colbert Sr., 49, deputy chief counsel of the Treasury Department's Bureau of Engraving and Printing, where he had worked since 1977, died Aug. 14 at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital after a stroke. He lived in Alexandria. Mr. Colbert, who was born in Munich, came to the Washington area as a youth. He was a graduate of Churchill High School in Potomac, the College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C., and George Mason University law school. Survivors include his wife, Susan Kantrowitz, and two sons, William Jr. and Ryan, all of Alexandria; five brothers, James III, of Los Angeles, John, of Charleston, Stephen, of New York, and Edward and Thomas, both of Washington; and three sisters, Elizabeth Busch of Charleston and Mary Denger and Margo Keegan, both of Washington.
