They seem to have separated or divorced c. 1902; around this date, Sue moved with their surviving children to Washington, D.C., where daughter Stella was already living, while John lived in Kansas City, MO. The last mention of him I can find is in a newspaper article in 1903; his date of death is unknown to me, although he does not appear in the 1910 census.
