Willard J Ryan was born on May 8, 1890 in Washburn, Wisconsin. He was the football coach at Green Bay West High School in 1916 & 1917. He was the first coach of the Green Bay Packers, coaching the team in 1919 and the Packers finished with a 10-1 record. With the Packers he went by the name of "Big Bill"
Willard served in the army in 1918 during WW1.
In 1920 he moved to Gilbert, Minnesota to be the superintendant of schools.
In 1961 he moved to Phoenix, Arizona and died 6 months later.
