Patricia Branscome Vaughan, 86, of Roanoke, Va., passed away peacefully on Monday, November 28, 2016.

She was preceded in death by her husband, T. George Vaughan Jr.; and her parents, Rubye and Carl Branscome of Galax, Va.

Pat is survived by her three children, Patricia Lee Stanley, John Franklin Stanley and wife, Lisa, and Hallie Stanley and husband, Stuart Feather; and five granddaughters, Laura E. Jessee, Sarah C. Jessee, Patricia W. Jessee, Olivia L. Stanley and Shelby A. Stanley. Other surviving family members include her brother, Dr. William Branscome and wife, Emily, of Staunton, Va.; sister-in-law, Joan Bascom of Charlottesville, Va.; stepchildren, Martha V. Blakeney of Charlotte, N.C., and Taylor C. Vaughan and wife, Celia, of Galax, Va.; and several nieces, nephew and stepgrandchildren.

She is also survived by long time caretaker and friend of the family, Dee Dee Settles.

Pat was born on August 28, 1930, and raised in Galax, Va. She attended Randolph Macon Women's College in Lynchburg, Va., and graduated With Honors in 1951.

She moved with her family to Roanoke, Va., in 1961 and immediately became active in the community.

She volunteered with numerous organizations through the years and was instrumental in the creation of two of her favorite charities by
serving as a founding Board Member for both Apple Ridge Farm and Habitat for Humanity of the Roanoke Valley, both of which remained important to her throughout her life.

Pat also gave many years of service to other charities including the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, Mill Mountain Theatre, Planned
Parenthood of the Blue Ridge, Children's Home Society of Virginia and Second Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed tennis, golf, travel and most especially playing bridge with friends.

Pat's Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 5, 2016, at Second Presbyterian Church in Roanoke.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Apple Ridge Farm, 541 Luck Ave., #304, Roanoke, VA 24016 or to
Habitat for Humanity, 3435 Melrose Ave., Roanoke, VA 24017.
