Mr. Steve Allen Thomas, 71, of Ariton, died Monday, January 2, 2017, in Flowers Hospital.


Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, January 5, 2017, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Bill Weed officiating. Interment will be 1:30 P. M. (Central Time) in Fort Mitchell National Veterans Cemetery in Fort Mitchell, Alabama, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in the funeral home in Ozark Friday morning from 9:00 A.M. until service time.


Mr. Thomas was born February 25, 1945 in Gadsden, Alabama to the late Percy Earl Thomas and Sindy Delora Lance Thomas. He served in the United States Army and later worked as a correctional officer with the Alabama State Prison System. He was a loving father, grandfather, and a devout Christian. His family was his life and he was loved by each and everyone. He was a kind and generous man and an Alabama Crimson Tide fan.


Survivors include five children, Steve Allen Thomas, Jr., James Michael Thomas, Mark David Thomas, Polly Delora Sanders (James Chad Sanders), and Matthew Lance Thomas (April Thomas); seven grandchildren, Brittany Hooker, Amanda Thomas, Kayla Thomas, Matthew Lance Thomas, Jr., Shelby Sanders, Chloe Thomas, and Maddie Thomas; three great grandchildren, Journey Lane, Olivia Hooker, and Kaiden Jackson.
