Archie Hogden died 27 May 2006, two months before his 92nd birthday. He was a son of Alette "Lottie" Solem, who was a daughter of immigrants Ole and Ingri Solem, who came from Telemark in 1880.

Archie served in World War Two in Hawaii, the Philippines and in the invasion of Okinawa. After the war, he became an educator and for 25 years was a school principal in Kirtland, New Mexico, retiring in 1977.

The funeral for Archie were held on 3 Jun 2006 at First Baptist church in Kirtland, New Mexico; and his ashes were taken on 9 June to the Santa Fe National Cemetery and, following Roman Catholic graveside service, were placed beside those of his wife, Shirley, who died in 1992.

He is survived by daughters Paula, Mary and Kerstin and sons Aaron, Kevin and Erik, plus several grandchildren and many cousins.
