Eugene Blair, age 94, of Abbotsford passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Dycora Nursing Home in Abbotsford. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Saturday, January 21, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford. Friends and family are welcome 9:30 am on Saturday, January 21, 2017 until the time of the service. Pastor Marcia Thomas will officiate. Burial will be at the Abbotsford Public Cemetery.
Eugene was born November 4, 1922 in the township of Unity, the son of Herman and Eunice (Holmes) Blair. Eugene was united in marriage to Verna Herrmann on October 13, 1945. Together they operated a dairy farm near Riplinger until 1952. A few years later, they bought a farm east of Abbotsford in 1954. Eugene was a farmer all of his working days.
Eugene worked as a technician for Tri Breeders for many years. He also served on the Abbotsford School Board, director on the Board of Tri State Breeders, and served a term and was treasurer for First Presbyterian Church.
Eugene is survived by his wife: Verna; his five children: Christine (Mike) Gust of Knoxville, TN, Carrol Stano of Oconto,WI, Randolph (Cindy) Blair of Tomahawk, Dudley Blair of Abbotsford, and Douglas (Sara) Blair of Abbotsford. He has been blessed with 13 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. He is further survived by a brother-in-law: Glen Herrmann of Minocqua.
He is preceded in death his parents and by a brother: Lyle Blair.
