Pauline Bryant-Stade, 94 , of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at the Laurels of Defiance.

She was born on September 17, 1922 to Thomas and Mary (Alford) Bryant in Big Creek, West Virginia. In 1971 she married Norman Stade of Arlington Heights, Illinois, where they resided until his death in 1989.

Pauline was a member of The Church of Christ in Defiance. She worked as a LPN at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights, Illinois for 25 years.

Pauline is survived by her son Gannon (Karen) Bryant of Defiance, daughter Carol Sue (Anthony) Wicks of North Ridgeville, Ohio, 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Norman Stade, four brothers, Omar Bryant, Cleve Bryant, Denver Bryant, and Ross Bryant, four sisters, Augusta Bryant, Nancy Ann Bryant, Virgie Lovejoy, and Frances Gore.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Rev. Lonnie Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
