Michael Paul "Mike" Fanning, of Fairfax Station, Virginia passed away from a sudden illness on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the age of 62.

Mike was born in Janesville, Wisconsin to Emmett "Bud" and Elizabeth "Betty" Fanning on April 25, 1954. He was a graduate of Parker High School, Class of 1972 and attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Mike was a project supervisor for Ryan Central for over 37 years all along the east coast.

On July 6, 1992, Mike was united in marriage to Nancy Boone at the Westwood Baptist Church in Springfield, Virginia.

He was predeceased by his parents, Bud and Betty, his sister, Luanne Totten, his godmother Agnes Hanauska of Milton, Wisconsin, and his beloved four-legged friend, Rachael.

Mike loved his family, friends, and the Washington Nationals, but the Green Bay Packers were his favorite. He passed peacefully while watching the Packers game with numerous family and friends! He will also be greatly missed for his wit, charm, and kind heart, along with his unique sense of humor and infinite pearls of wisdom he shared along the journey. Mike was a dedicated and loving husband to Nancy and outstanding father to Michael. His legacy will remain in their hearts forever.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday evening from 5:00-8:00 pm at the Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, Fairfax, VA. Services will be held Saturday morning also at the funeral home at 10:00 am.
