Coveney, Lillian M.

Age 104, of Elmira passed away Sat. Aug. 27, 2016 in the care of Elcor Health Services following a long and full life. Born on March 14, 1912 in Portland, OR, she was the daughter of the late Elmer & Catherine Ennis Clarkson. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jeremiah Coveney; sister, Leuletta Winch; and brother Milan "Bud" Clarkson.

Surviving are her loving nieces and nephews, Carol Winch Houssock, James (Mary) Winch, Chuck (Billie Sue) Clarkson, Karen (Dan) Lee, Mary Ellen Coveney Syer, and Louise Coveney Murphy along with their families, several cousins and many special friends.

Lillian was employed for many years by the Dandy Food Market and by Rosenbaum's in Elmira, Horseheads and Johnson City, NY. Her interests included traveling, hosting large family gatherings around the holidays, cheering for NASCAR driver Tony Stewart, and eating hot wings or raw oysters with a Manhattan.

Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport/Elmira on Tues. Aug. 30, 2016 between the hours of 5-7 PM. Funeral services will follow at 7:15 PM with interment on Wednesday at 11 AM in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to her favorite charities: The Salvation Army (414 Lake St., Elmira, NY 14901) or St. Joseph's Indian School (1301 N. Main St., Chamberlain, SD 57325).
