Maxine Laverne Hinsch, age 95, formerly of Isle, passed away in New Brighton on Dec. 27, 2016, with her family by her side.
A funeral service is planned for Max on Jan. 7, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Isle with Pastor Steve Weston officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Faith Lutheran Cemetery.
Arrangements by the Mille Lacs Lake Funeral Home of Isle.
Max is survived by her sons, Neil (Linda) Hansen of Greensburo, N.C., Douglas E. (Kelly) Hinsch of New Brighton, Darold L. Hinsch of Cambridge; her daughters, Anita J. (Don) Klug of Florence, S.D., Marjorie J. Swearingen of Souix Falls, S.D.; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Max is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers; three sister-in-laws; two son-in-laws; and two grandsons.
Maxine was born in Clark, S.D., to Marshall and Jeanette Sutton on Aug. 30, 1921. She resided in Clark until after school, moving to Watertown, S.D., working as a waitress. While living in Watertown she met the love of her life, Ed Hinsch. They married on Nov. 2, 1942, in Fairburg, Neb. Maxine and Ed moved to Rock Rapids, Iowa. Max (as she was always called) started driving gravel trucks, which her husband owned. In 1943 they moved back to Watertown, S.D. Max then worked in a potato factory for several years and still was working as a waitress also. As the children came along and grew, Max and Ed decided to buy a farm outside of Isle. In 1962, they started the new adventure of owning and running a dairy farm. Max and Ed decided to sell the farm and moved on to 40 acres of land south of Isle. Ed passed away in 1990. Max continued to live on the acreage until 2003 when she moved into the town of Isle. In 2006 she left Isle to move to New Brighton to live with her son and his
