Florence Evelyn (Schab) Walker was born November 27, 1927 and went to our Lord on September 3, 2014. Florence's parents were Andrew and Katherine (Burghart) Schab. Both were German immigrants from Russia.

She was the eighth child of 19 born to Andrew. Mom spent her younger years living with her aunt in Portland, OR. After the 8th grade she returned to the ranch near Benton City, WA to be with her siblings and help work on the dairy/hay ranch.

Mom moved to Yakima, and in 1946 she met the love of her life (Lloyd). On September 27, 1947 they were wed at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Florence and Lloyd were married just shy of 67 years. She and Lloyd have two children (Ron and Susan).

This is where her adventures began. She enjoyed the tent camping with her young family, following the retreating snow line making its way up the pass. Vacation trips to the Oregon and Washington coasts were additionally taken. The young family then bought a summer cabin on Chinook Pass where they spent many a great times with family and friends and grandchildren. Mom was known to get up to stoke the fire at night so the rest of us could sleep. They sold "the cabin," to her brother (John) and sister-in-law who still own it today.

In their middle years, Mom and Dad then bought the summer beach house on Hood Canal where many more years were spent enjoying shrimping, crabbing, clamming and oyster hunting. The views from the deck were incredible. Mom enjoyed feeding and watching the hummingbirds from their deck; she had a name for each of them. As with all her places, weeds were not allowed to grow in her flower or vegetable gardens. The trips continued: Europe and a cruise to Alaska. In Mom's later years she and Dad became snow birds spending 13 winters in Yuma, AZ. Through the course of her adventures she met many a friend. She always spoke positively about everyone. Mom rarely missed a Friday to get her hair done.

She loved family and friends and her walls are covered with pictures. She was also known for her potato salads at family gatherings. Her dog Mitzi along with Susan's dog Tammie will miss her. Mom practiced her faith all through her life. For many years she was a member of the Women's Altar Society and often talked about those times. Although she could not attend Mass because of her failing health, she did watch Mass on TV and received the body of Christ every Sunday. Mom was a retired member of the Retired Clerks Association. Most of her grocery checking career was spent at Delormes Market. She worked out of the home and raised a family which was rare back in the day.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Katherine, sisters and spouses: Marie (Ray) Remond and Betty (Roxey) Warren; brothers and spouses: Clarence (Elva) Schab, Clem (Flota) Schab, Raymie (June) Schab, Wally (Grace) Schab, Harold Schab, Bob Schab, Curt (Phyllis) Schab, Richard Schab, and Don Schab.
