Shirley A. Cannon passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Chester County Hospital. She was born in Lancaster, PA on September 25, 1953 to the late Wayne M. Haldeman and Mary Seabolt Haldeman. She grew up in Gap, PA. She attended Octorara High School where she enjoyed cheering all the sports teams on and graduated in 1971. After graduation, she became a seamstress for Cardinal Cottons where she retired in 1975 to become a wife to the late Gilbert Odell Cannon, Sr. From this time on, Shirley was a homemaker. As a homemaker, she remained a seamstress and one of the most talented and creative women you would ever meet. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, scrapbooking, garnishing, cake decorating, and ceramics. You name it, and she would make it. Shirley was a Girl Scout Leader who inspired many girls in Coatesville, PA. She prides this as one of her proudest civic accomplishments. As a Girl Scout Leader, Shirley made the best friends of her life, the late Faye Mattson, Linda Seal, Rosemarie Skulrak, Myrtle Davis, Helen Sherman, Cheryl Volgesang and Patsy Lutz Baldwin. She prides her proudest moments in life as the birth of her daughter, Heather, her daughter’s graduation from College and Law School and the birth of her grandson, Azeem Bell who was her great love and joy. She was affectionately known as Ms. Shirley to many and Mom Mom to all her grandchildren. She loved all her grandchildren and became a grandmother to many children in the neighborhood. She enjoyed spending all her time with her family and grandchildren. She hosted many crafting events, mentoring events and parties for her grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Heather Cannon-Bell (Ian Bell – husband) of Wilmington, DE, Gilda Cannon-Sotero (Luciano Sotero – Husband) of Washington, D.C.; her sons, Gilbert O. Cannon (wife-Marsha) of Norfolk, VA, James Cannon (wife-Joyce) of Fort Washington, MD, Oliver Cannon (wife-Denise) of Las Vegas, NV and the late Edward P. Cannon, her brother, Thomas Haldeman of Coatesville, PA; sister-in-law’s, Bernell Arrington and Florence Cannon of Coatesville, PA, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
