Max received his early education at Immaculate Heart of Mary School. He graduated from Holy Rosary Institute, Class of 1961. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Grambling State University in 1968 with a major in Social Studies and minor in Health and Physical Education. He earned a degree in Guidance Counseling at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. In 1975 he graduated from Southern University with a Master’s Degree in Education, Administration and Supervision.

While at Grambling State University Max became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and served as Dean of Pledgees. He was a life member of Eta Gamma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

He began his teaching career with the Lafayette Parish School System as a history teacher at Truman Elementary School. Eventually he became an administrator, retiring as Principal of Paul Breaux Middle School after serving 25 years in the school system.

He was the owner and operator of “The Tobacco Hut Etc. Inc.” where he implemented a program with the neighborhood children. For every A and B earned in the classroom the child would be rewarded with treats. According to Max, every child was worth saving if given love and a chance.

He leaves to cherish fond memories his loving wife of 47 years, Barbara Ruffin Robertson; daughter, Bridgette Robertson Mouton (Thaddeus); grandchildren, Alexis, Ezra and Ava; his sister, Mary Evelyn Simmons ((James); brothers, John Horace Robertson, Darrel Robertson (Cynthia); sisters-in-law, Cecelia Simmons, Rose Owens, Yvonne Fuselier; brother-in-law, Husville Ruffin, Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude and Luke Robertson, Sr.; brother, Luke Robertson, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Shirley Harmon Robertson and Mary Louise Johnson; brothers-in-law, John Morris Ruffin, Joseph Nolton Ruffin, Richard Ruffin.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Maxime Mark Robertson, 73, who died January 17, 2017 at Post Acute Medical Specialty Hospital.

Entombment will be in Immaculate Heart of Mary Mausoleum.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Syrie Funeral Home, Inc. of Lafayette, LA.
