Wayne R Van Dyke

Wayne Van Dyke, age 52, of Hospers, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2009, in his farm home.

There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, June 17, at 1:30pm, in the yard of his farm home at 4434 395th Street, just west of Hospers. The Rev. Robert Holtrop and the Rev. Jeffrey Whitt will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the Hospers Cemetery.

Wayne Ryan was born on October 22, 1956, in Orange City, the son of Raymond George and Alice Johanna (Vander Maten) Van Dyke. He was raised on their farm near Hospers and graduated from the Floyd Valley High School in Alton.

On July 6, 1984, he married Kimberly Ann Chandler in Sutton, Nebraska. They made their home near Hospers, where he farmed and currently was employed by De Wild Grant Reckert & Associates in Rock Rapids, as an engineering technician.

Wayne was a long-time member of the First Reformed Church in Hospers and was presently attending New Hope Evangelical Free Church. His life was enriched through his involvement with Cursillo, Ya-TEC, and TEC.

He shared interests in farming and horses with his dad. He enjoyed going to sporting events, and buying, selling, and rebuilding computers. Wayne loved all kinds of music, especially watching his daughters march in the Pride of the Dutchmen band. He found joy in attending Lifelight, a Christian music festival, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and more recently, he liked taking road-trips to visit his girls.

Survivors include his wife of almost 25 years, Kim; two daughters, Chandler Jo Van Dyke and Jordan Rae Van Dyke, both of Hospers; his mother, Alice Van Dyke, of Hospers; two sisters and their husbands, Ramona and Brian Garvey; and Bonnie and Fred Kramer, all of Hospers; a brother and his wife, Randy and Judy Van Dyke, of Spencer; and his mother-in-law, Joan Chandler, of Sutton. He also loved his many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond G. Van Dyke; his father-in-law, Richard O. Chandler; and a nephew, Dustin Kramer.
