Independence Daily Reporter, Monday, Mar 9, 1914, p. 4:
Mrs. A. R. Owen, an old lady living on South Sixteenth street, died at her home yesterday evening at 6 o’clock. She has been in poor health for some time. She leaves a husband, two daughters and one son to mourn her death. The funeral will take place some time Wednesday, the hour not having been decided on. The son lives in Colorado and is expected home for the funeral.

Independence Evening Star, Monday, Mar 9, 1914, p. 1:
Mrs. A. R. Owen, aged 67 years, died Sunday evening at 6 o’clock at the family home on South Sixteenth street. The funeral will be held from the First Christian church, of which she was a member, Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock, with Rev. Frank Jennings of the First Baptist church in charge of the services.
Mrs. Owen is survived by her husband and three children, Mrs. Francis Foster of this city, Mrs. Eva Defenbaugh of Montgomery county, and a son George, in Missouri. She is also survived by four brothers, three in Illinois, and one residing at Tyro.

Independence Evening Star, Wednesday, Mar 11, 1914, p. 8:
Quite a large crown attended the funeral of Mrs. A. R. Owens held from the First Christian church, this morning, at 10 o’clock. Rev. Hall read the funeral sermon. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. Interment was made in New Mt. Hope.
