Pearl Lee Hing, with deep commitment to her faith, went home on January 15, 2017, in Chico, CA. Pearl was 99 years young. Born on August 28, 1917 in San Francisco, CA., the daughter of Seid Pak Sing and Chow Siu. Seid Pak Sing was a respected civic and business leader in Chinatown. Pearl’s siblings are: Eva Fung, Edward Suey Seid, Diana Yuen, Alice Quon, Albert Seid, and Jack Seid. Pearl attended Commodore Stockton and Francisco Jr. High. She spent a year in Hong Kong studying and on return attended a secretarial school. She worked as an immigration interpreter commuting by ferry to Angel Island daily.

Pearl married Wallace F. Lee, in 1940; they were married 47 years, building a home in Burlingame. Pearl enjoyed raising her children, participating in her Church,

The Asian Senior Group and Chi Mateans. She was employed as a key- punch data processer by a variety of companies including the San Mateo School District. In 1990 Pearl married Henry Hing. She loved to travel enjoying trips to Asia, Europe, Canada and more recently Reno and Las Vegas with her sister Diana.

Pearl is survived by her sister Diana Yuen, son Garrick Lee (Galina); daughter Anthia Haufmann (Charlie); son Collin Lee (Sheryl). She has 4 granddaughters: Shelly (Ryan) Spratt, Mindy (Tarik) McFall, Katie Lee., and Kristi (Adam) Blazewick. Her great grand children are: Tyler and Ayden Spratt; Ava Lily McFall, Remmi, Yuno and Lillith Blazewick. She is also survived by her two step daughters: Trina Hing-De Bottom and Sherrie Fong, many nieces and nephews, and friends.

Pearl was greatly loved because of her love for others. In 2010 she was having serious health issues and even though she didn’t want to leave her beloved SF came to Chico to be close to her two sons. She came to love Chico, enjoyed living at Prestige, and making new friends. Pearl is known for her kind, generous and joyful spirit.

A viewing will be held at Newton-Bracewell funeral home in Chico, Friday, Jan. 20 from 5pm-7pm. A memorial service will be held at the Community Baptist Church in San Mateo, on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Communty Baptist Church, 15 S. Humbolt St., San Mateo.
