Narcille Tyer Hare was born July 20, 1922, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to Shelton W. Tyer Sr. and Gillie (Orme) Tyer. She passed from this life peacefully on Jan. 16, 2017, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 94 with her two children at her side.

She graduated from Ardmore High School in 1940 and then attended the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha for one year. She was briefly employed in the Carter County Assessor’s office before becoming the personal secretary to Waco Turner. On December 3, 1944, Narcille married Stewart F. Hare and soon moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, where her husband was an aerial gunnery instructor in the U.S. Navy until the war’s end. They returned to Ardmore, and she spent the rest of her life as a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ardmore her entire life.

Narcille and Stewart bought their first motor home within days of their younger child’s graduation from college, and for the next 25 years, they would take month long trips throughout the Western United States and Northern Mexico. She enjoyed solving jig-saw and crossword puzzles, and playing solitaire. Talented in crafts of all types she loved making things to give to others. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Shelton Tyer, Sr. and Gillie Tyer, her husband Stewart Hare, a sister, Rene Tyer Cochran, and a brother, Shelton W. Tyer, Jr.

Narcille is survived by her daughter, Judy Carol Baum and her husband, Phillip of Oklahoma City; her son, Robert S. Hare and his wife, Deborah, of Ardmore; grandchildren Jeffrey Carter Baum and wife Alicia of Tulsa; Brian Shelton Baum of Norman; Christopher Matthew Hare and wife Jean of Houston, TX; Mark Aaron Hare and wife Sarah of Norman; and Susan Elizabeth Mueggenborg and husband Tyler of Yukon; great-grandchildren Charlotte Ann Hare, Michael Shelton Hare, Noah Stewart Baum, Luke Carter Baum, and Maxwell James Mueggenborg.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017 in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with Reverend David Daniel Officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
