Jon D. Johnson, 64, Cavalier, ND, passed away Tuesday, January 17 2017, at his home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Friday, January 20th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. Burial will be held in the Peters Cemetery, Svold, ND. Jon was born May 11, 1952 at Williston, ND to Barney and Rosa (Dalsted) Johnson. He grew up in the Backoo-Svold area and graduated from Cavalier High School in 1970. Jon served in the North Dakota National Guard. He worked for Abrahamson Brothers Construction, farmed and ranched in the Backoo area, and worked for Thorlakson Construction. On November 23, 1973, he married Nancy Karel at Cavalier. He was a devoted family man and deeply loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. Things he enjoyed were hunting, fishing, horses, and helping his neighbors and whoever needed a hand. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughters: Kimberly Wenzel, Langdon, ND and Kristi (Chris Stremick), Walhalla, ND; he was Afi to: Brody Jon Berg, Parker Stremick, and Austin Wenzel. He is also survived by brothers: Lawrence Thordarson and Jerry Johnson; sister-in-law, Nadine (Robert) Smith; brother-in-law, Lloyd Karel. Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Erwin Thordarson.
