He lived at New Utrecht on Long Island and owned land both at New Utrecht and in New Jersey. He served as magistrate at New Utrecht in 1698; as lieutenant of the New Utrecht company of Kings Co. Militia in 1705 and 1713; and as captain in 1715, succeeded by Rutgers Van Brunt in 1722. He appears on the census of New Utrecht, about 1698, with one man, one woman, five children, and one slave. In 1738 he appears on the list of all inhabitants with two white males above 10,one black male and one black female above 10 years. This is the last record found for Aert Van Pelt.
