Robert “Bob” Karsnak, a member of the Greatest Generation, passed away January 12, 2017 in Conroe at the age of 91. As a member of this generation, Bob grew up during the great depression of the 1930’s and later served his country in the Army (Yankee Division) during WWII. Robert fought in the European Theatre with the Us Army Yank Division seeing action during the Battle of the Bulge where he was wounded and received a Purple Heart.

Bob was born on March 22, 1925 in Indianapolis, Indiana to John and Anna (Rich) Karsnak. He grew up in Indiana with his large family which included four sisters and one brother. Robert graduated from Muncie Central High before heading off to war. He married the love of his life, Ellen and they were happily married for 66 years. They have two children, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He took pride at his profession as a tool and die maker at US Engineering and spent many years with this company.

Bob’s favorite past time was his family. He truly enjoyed spending time with them, whether it fishing and boating at the lake, special “Taco Thursday’s” with his son, John and grandsons, Austin and Jordan, taking trips to spend quality time with his daughter, Robin and her family in Wichita, KS. cruising on their lake or he and Ellen slipping away every Wednesday morning for breakfast at Panera which they so lovingly called “Panera Wednesday’s.” A recent highlight of he and Ellen’s travels were attending the weddings of two of their grandchildren; Jennifer and Michael’s wedding in Chicago and Ryan and Tristin’s wedding in Anna Marie Island, Florida. While there, he finally witnessed his beloved Cubs win the World Series!

Bob loved his family and his family loved him. He will be dearly missed, but his memory will live on.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Karsnak, one brother and two sisters.
