Jimmy D. Battson, 76, of Dallas, passed away on January 17, 2017. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Jeter & Son Funeral, Cedar Hill Chapel in Cedar Hill, Texas. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, January 20, 2017, at Lone Star Cowboy Church in Red Oak, Texas. Interment will follow in Little Bethel Cemetery.

Jimmy was born in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, to the late Thelmer Battson and Thelma Mae Wright Battson, and at the age of two, moved with his family to Cedar Hill, Texas, and remained in the Dallas area.

Jimmy went to work in 1956 at the age of 15 for E.L. Dalton Company doing underground utility construction where he labored until 1994. At that time, Jim, with his wife, Karen, and James Stanford started Battson Contracting where he further enjoyed his calling until the time that he passed.

Jim enjoyed his life with Karen and loved her very much. He also loved his family, church, and job. He had many other interests that included playing dominoes, hunting, fishing, and race cars but his greatest passion was just building things and doing construction work.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Ann Montoya; sisters, Pauline McHughes and Christeen Smith; brothers, T. N. "Jr." Battson and Gene Battson.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Battson; sons, Jerry Howell and James Battson; daughters: Norma McElyea, Dale Savage, Dee Smith, Shari Dorsett, and Leigh Luna; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members and numerous friends. K5
