Pioneer Resident of Los Angeles, California. Daughter of John A. J. and Elizabeth (Gosnell) Flood. Wife of Rev. Griffith Dickenson Compton, the founder of Compton, California. Griffith and Emily married in Lodi, California, in 1853, and settled in Stockton. They moved to the area of Los Angeles County now known as the City of Compton in 1867. They remained in Compton with their family until 1880, when they moved to a house on West Jefferson Boulevard near the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
