Benjamin A. George, 88 of Toms River passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017, with his beloved wife Rose and family by his side.

Ben was born in East Orange January 7, 1929. He grew up in Newark, after they married, Ben and Rose moved to Cranford in 1962 raising their four children before retiring after 36 years at PSEG and moving to Toms River in 1989.

Ben served in the Korean War receiving the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars and United Nations Service Medal. An avid golfer and pool player, he loved all sports and helped coach for many years in the Cranford Community.

He is pre -deceased by his parents, Anthony and Concetta, and his two brothers William and Michael.

He leaves behind his loving wife Rose of 63 years, his children, Barbara Chadwick and Norman, Ben George, and Robyn, Rich George and Anne, and Jean DeVoti and Mark; along with his 8 grandchildren, Dina, Jessica, Ryan, Jenna, Nick, Zach, John and Jillian and one Great Grandchild, Haley.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday 11:30 am at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, Toms River. Burial will follow at the Brigadier Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown.
