Dwight A. Phillips 66 of Gallatin passed away Monday, January 16. 2017 at his home. No scheduled visitation is planned. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Autism Society of America in care of McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin.

Dwight was born September 5, 1950 the son of Willie Gene and Johnnie Kathryn (Cox) Phillips in Checotah, OK. He graduated in 1968 from Powell High School in Dear Lodge Montana. Dwight proudly served his country in the US Army for 2 years as a medical corpsman. He was discharged in 1974 and returned back to Butte, Montana where he began his working career. He was employed at the Winter Garden Lane bowling alley in Butte where he was the manager, mechanic, ball driller, did lane conditioning and managed the leagues for over 20 years. Dwight was the first man to bowl a 300 game in the 44-year history of Butte’s Men’s Bowling Tournament; he was a master of the game. He was also employed at the Boulder Developmental Center in Montana as a Unit Supervisor for several years.

Dwight was united in marriage to Gail Eamon October 17, 1981 in Butte where the couple made their home. In 2001 they moved to Gallatin, MO and Dwight was employed at the Crossroads Correctional Center in Cameron, MO as a correctional officer where he dedicated 13 years of service. Dwight was no stranger to hard work, always doing what it took to get the job done.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and hiking; being close to nature was truly his passion. Dwight and Gail looked forward to their yearly trips back home to Butte to visit family and friends, and they so enjoyed the memories of growing up in Montana. Dwight was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers David and Dennis Phillips.

Dwight is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Gail of the home, son, Jesse Phillips of Albuquerque, New Mexico, daughters, Kaylee Phillips and significant other Stephan Watson of St. Joseph, Missouri, Tori Fisk and husband Patrick of Odessa, Texas, and 2 grandchildren Gavin and Kyrah Watson of St. Joseph, Missouri
