The 1910 US Census of Dixon, Cherokee Co., AL enumerated the household of 58 Y/O Daniel Webster Thornton, a farmer born in GA, and his 40 Y/O 2nd wife, Ida Lucy (Hale) Thornton, born in AL. They were married in 1905 following the death of his 1st wife, Sarah Eleanor "Ella" (Graham) Thornton on 01 Dec 1904. All of the children living in the household were Daniel's by his first wife, Sarah Eleanor "Ella" (Graham) Thornton. They were: 21 [sic] Y/O daughter, Nina Clyde Thornton, born Sept 1887; 18 Y/O Venice Aldyth Thornton, a farm laborer b. 29 Sept 1891; 15 Y/O Mary L. Thornton, a farm laborer b. Nov 1894; 10 Y/O Dozier Graham Thornton, a farm laborer b. 19 Jul 1899, and 8 Y/O Georgia Ruth Thornton.

Georgia Ruth Thornton married Samuel Ward Berry, Jr. on 25 Oct 1921 at Etowah Co., AL. The ceremony was performed by Crawford A. Tatum, Minister of the Gospel. She was the daughter of Daniel Webster Thornton and Sarah Eleanor "Ella" (Graham) Thornton.

The 1930 US Census of Gadsden, Etowah Co,. AL enumerated the household of 44 Y/O Samuel Ward Berry, Jr., a rural mail carrier born in AL, and his 28 Y/O wife, Georgia Ruth (Thornton) Berry, born in AL. Living in the household were their children: 7 Y/O Samuel Ward Berry III and 5 Y/O Dorothy R. Berry.

The 1940 US Census of of Gadsden, Etowah Co,. AL enumerated the household of 54 Y/O Samuel Ward Berry, Jr., a rural mail carrier born in AL, and his 38 Y/O wife, Georgia Ruth (Thornton) Berry, born in AL. Living in the household were their children: 17 Y/O Samuel Ward Berry, Jr.; 16 Y/O Dorothy R. Berry; 9 Y/O James Berry; 7 Y/O May Ruth Berry and 2 Y/O Edwin Berry.
