LAUANA I. HUMBRECHT, 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born June 27, 1922 in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Adele Halter. "Lu" attended North Side High School where she met the love of her life, Jack. Following Jack's return home from World War II, Lu married Jack on July 21, 1945. The couple then started a successful family owned tavern business, Jack & Johnny's (where "the customer was never right"), where they partnered with Jack's sister Delores Pence and her husband, Johnny. She was an avid golfer and bowler and loved playing bridge and loved dogs, flowers, and lunches with the girls. In addition to Jack, Lu's husband of 71 years, she is survived by two sons, Kurt (Kathy) Humbrecht of Fort Wayne and Brent (Phyllis) Humbrecht of Venice, Fla.; grandchildren, Carrie (Troy) Pogue of Greenwood, Ind., Amanda, Becky, Meredith, and Joe Humbrecht, all of Venice, Fla..; great-grandchildren, Kyle and Marissa Pogue of Greenwood, Ind.; as well as many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are brothers, Chuck and Bob Halter, both of Fort Wayne. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Frank Halter. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road.
