Billy G. Akins 67, of Bonita Springs died unexpectedly at his residence on Saturday, January 14, 2017. Billy was born on January 8, 1950 in Blue Mountain, Mississippi a son of the late Ondie J. and Jessie (Lindsey) Akins. He had been a resident of Bonita Springs for the past 50 years coming from Wauchula, FL.
His work career took him in many directions, but mainly in the construction industry. He worked for Krehling Industries in Naples for 20 years and most recently for KEB Management Services.
He is survived by his five daughters, Kathy L. Forsyth (Tim) of Ocala, FL, Billie Jo Whitehurst of Williston, FL, Katrina L. Brin (Paul) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Alicia Jean McKeehan (Patrick) of Burke, VA and Sarah R. Akins of Bonita Springs, FL; his loving former wife, Brenda L. Akins of Davie, FL three sisters, Linda P. Munk (Tony) , Patsy S. Johnson and Elnita J. Hitchcock all of Bonita Springs, FL; two brothers, Dwight J. Akins (Brenda) and Eddie C. Akins both of Attapulgus, GA and 8 grandchildren, Katelyn, Allison, Travis, Kaylee, Alyssa, Daniel, Keegan and Gage.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home 28300 So. Tamiami Tr. Bonita Springs. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM with Rev. Russ Winn, officiating.
Arrangements are being handled by Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home.
