Born February 22, 1931 in Marston, she was the daughter of the late Carroll Lewis and Mabel Strine Lindsay. She was the wife of Walter Edwin Franklin, who died in 2013.
Mrs. Franklin was a 1948 graduate of New Windsor High School. She was formerly employed with Price Electric in Frederick for 10 years, while farming with her husband on the Catawba farm on the corner of Clemsonville Road and Route 31. She was a member of Linganore United Methodist Church, attended Johnsville United Methodist Church and played the organ and taught Sunday school at St. James United Methodist Church for 30 years.
She enjoyed all types of needlework, playing the organ and reading.
Surviving are daughter, Kathy Franklin Baldwin and husband, Eric of Upper Holland, PA; grandchildren, Amanda Elizabeth "Libby" Baldwin and Thomas Taylor Baldwin; sister, Dr. Helen E. Colby; and brother, C. Richard Lindsay.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Rd., Libertytown, with Rev. Stephen Ricketts, her pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery, Dennings.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 18.
