Author. He was a brillant writer noted for his novels and his short stories. His books have been translated into at least 18 languages and a variety of magazines. Three of novels were adapted into the feature films "The Hustler" (1959), "The Man Who to Earth" (1976) and "The Color of Money" (1984). He also was a Professor of English literature at the University of Ohio. He died of cancer at age 56.
