Born in Rosemary, N.C., on October 1, 1917, she was the daughter of the late John and Sally O'dell. She was predeceased by her husband, John Peebles Long. Mrs. Long was a member of Haygood United Methodist Church, where she formerly sang in the choir.
Mrs. Long is survived by her daughters, Patricia Long Henningsen and Sandra L. Sperry, both of Virginia Beach; sisters, Alma Smith of Florence, S.C., and Shirley Murray of Raleigh, N.C.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rosewood Memorial Park with Chaplain Keith E. Willyard officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Haygood United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel.
