George Howard Lane, 85, of Colfax, a retired farmer, died at 1:30 a.m. today in Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon. He had been ill a week.
Mr Lane has lived in the Colfax area most of his life. He was a former commander and a 50 year member of American Legion Post 439, a charter member of Frankfort 40&8, a former member of Frankfort Elks and a member of Colfax Methodist Church.
Born Jun 4, 1891 at Colfax, he was the son of Alfred and Mary Catherine Harlan Lane. He was married to Ruth Bernice Chrisman on Nov 16,1923. She died on Nov 29, 1971.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs Clarence (Dorothy) Bailey of Crawfordsville; two sons, Jack of Fowler and Ralph of Frankfort; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grand children.
Services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Willliams Funeral Home at Colfax with the Rev. John Stations Officiating. Burial will be in the Plainview Cemetery at Colfax. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Tuesday.
