Herman Earl Murphy, age 83 of Circleville, WV, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at his residence.
He was born in Cherry Grove, WV on September 21, 1933, the son of the late Isaac Earl and Sylvia (Bennett) Murphy.
On December 31, 1955, Herman married Ardith (Waybright) Murphy, who survives in Circleville.
Mr. Murphy was a 1953 graduate of Circleville High School and was a member of the Circleville Presbyterian Church.
He had retired as a School Bus Driver for Pendleton County Schools and was also a Farmer.
Herman was a Veteran of the US Army.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Murphy is survived by: 3 daughters, Sandra Hedrick and husband Lowell of Seneca Rocks, WV, Kathy Murphy Huffman and husband Tom of Petersburg, WV, Rose Murphy of Nokesville, VA; a son, Douglas Murphy and wife Penny of Alexandria, VA; a sister, Ellen Johnson of Solomon, MD; 4 grandchildren, Matthew Hedrick, Brenda Murphy, Isiah Murphy, Ella Huffman; and 4 great-grandchildren, Abby Hedrick, Colson Hedrick, Audrey Higgins, and Alyssa Higgins.
Mr. Murphy's family will receive friends on Monday, January 16, 2017, 6-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Circleville Presbyterian Church with Rev. Roxana Mebane Atwood and Rev. Bill Cox officiating.
Interment will be in North Fork Memorial Cemetery in Riverton, WV with Military Honors conducted by the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorials may be made to the Circleville Presbyterian Church or Mountain Hospice.
