He was born April 22, 1921 in Cedar Falls, son of Louis Cleon and Sarah Ellen (Kleckner) Wood.
He married Lorraine A. Johnson on October 27, 1943 in Cedar Falls. She died November 5, 2013.
He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1939 and served in the United States Army Air Force during WWII.
He was employed with John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 35 years, retiring as a Designer in 1982. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls.
Survived by: three sons, Robert (Patricia) Wood of La Porte City, Randy Wood of St. Louis, MO, and Russell (Kimberly) Wood of Pine Top, AZ; one daughter, Thalia Wood of Silver Springs, MD; ten grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.
Private family services will be held in the spring.
