Roy D. Strickland, age 93, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017. He was born October 29, 1923 in the Red Springs community of Bowie County, Texas.
He was retired from Red River Army Depot and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a former member of the Red Springs Baptist Church and a member of the First Baptist Church, Redwater, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Emma Jean Strickland, his second wife, Loraine Graves Strickland, one sister Ruthie Lee Stout, one brother, Walter Burnall Strickland and a grandson, Matthew Parnell.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Sherel and Bob Cook of Texarkana, Texas, Lora Parnell of Little Rock, Arkansas; one sister, Hazel Marie Keister of Texarkana, Texas; two granddaughters and two grandsons-in-law, Sara and Dustin Estes, Emily and Andy Harper, one grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Christopher and Carrie Parnell of Cedar Park, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Hope Estes, Tad Estes, Stella Grace Harper, Pearce Parnell and a number of other relatives.
A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens, North Chapel, with Rev. Tommy Keister officiating.
